Digital publishing is handled as a single pipeline from manuscript to distribution — editing and layout decisions are made with the final distributed format in mind from the start.

Editing

Manuscript editing covers developmental structure, line-level clarity and copyediting, done as separate passes rather than one rushed read-through. A manuscript that will be self-published needs a different level of editorial rigor than one going to a traditional publisher’s own editorial team, and the scope is agreed up front based on which situation applies.

Layout and typesetting

Layout decisions — trim size, typeface, margins, chapter openers, running heads — are made with the eBook’s actual reading environment in mind: reflowable text on e-readers and phones behaves very differently from a fixed print layout, so typesetting is done for the format the reader will actually use, not adapted after the fact from a print file. Where a print edition is also wanted, that’s scoped as a related but distinct deliverable, since print and reflowable eBook layout follow different rules.

Cover design

Cover design is built to work at the sizes it will actually be seen at: a thumbnail in a store listing and search results, not just a full-size mockup. That means legible titling at small sizes, a composition that still reads clearly in grayscale or low-light displays, and genre-aware visual conventions so the cover signals the right category to a browsing reader.

Distribution prep

Each retailer and platform (Amazon KDP, Apple Books, Kobo, Google Play Books, and others) has its own file format and metadata requirements. Distribution prep means producing correctly formatted files for the platforms actually being used, along with the metadata (categories, keywords, description) that affects discoverability on each one — handled once as part of the same pipeline rather than as a separate project after the eBook is already finished.

Cost and process

Pricing depends on manuscript length, illustration needs, and how many platforms the eBook is being formatted for. See our eBook formatting cost guide for typical ranges across DIY, freelance and professional routes, or start a project and we’ll scope it against your specific manuscript.

FAQ

Common Questions

What experience do you have with ebooks?

We've delivered over 100 ebook projects end to end: cover, interior layout and publishing preparation. At peak, one production run delivered more than 50 books in a single month, and several titles have reached bestseller rankings in their category on Amazon. The anonymized write-up is on our case studies page.

What does "one pipeline" mean for my book?

Editing, layout and cover decisions are made with the final published format in mind from the start. Formatting problems (broken layouts, images that don't scale, a cover that fails a store's requirements) get prevented instead of fixed after the fact.

Do I keep the rights to my book?

Yes. Your manuscript is yours, and ownership of the cover and layout work we create for you transfers to you on full payment, unless we agree otherwise in writing.

Which formats and stores do you prepare books for?

All the main formats: EPUB, Kindle and print-ready PDF, for all the major stores, including Kindle Direct Publishing, Apple Books and Google Play, and others as needed.
